Nutmeg is the seed of several species of the genus Myristica. In Pakistan they are called “Jaiphal Javatri “.Nutmeg is the shelled, dried seed of the plant, and mace is the dried net-like covering of the shell of the seed.They can be found in whole-seed form but are most often sold as a ground spice. They are a source of essential oil and nutmeg butter. Having a warm, slightly nutty flavor its used in desserts and curries.

Nutmeg and mace have thier own special and beneficial qualities regarding human health. Some of which are:

Nutmeg also has anti bacterial properties. Escherichia coli o57 is a harmful bacteria which can lead to death in humans and it is found in a study that nutmeg has antimicrobial activities against this bacteria.
